New legislative changes affecting iQ

New legislative changes affecting companies that trade in the UK – October 2023
Extended producer responsibility for packaging
Organisations that trade in the UK that supply or import packaging now need to comply with extended producer responsibility (EPR) for packaging. While the scheme does not start until October 2025, companies affected by EPR for packaging are being asked to start capturing their packaging data now.

To find out what packaging activities come under the EPR regulation, and what data needs to be submitted, you can head to the official government website.

If you use our Plastic Packaging Tax functionality within iQ, it may be possible to configure this module to meet the requirements of EPR legislation too. If this is the case, please click here and create a ticket on our helpdesk so that we can deal with your query or speak to your Account Manager who will be able to help.

More details can be found on Gov.uk.

Supplying explosives precursors and poisons
From 1 October 2023 businesses supplying regulated explosives precursors to a professional user or business will need to take additional steps to verify the legitimacy of the buyer.

When conducting a sale of explosive precursors or poison, the seller will need to gather specific details including the business customer’s name and address, a form of photo ID, a statement of the nature of the business customer’s trade, business or profession and the business customer’s VAT registration number.

More info can be found on the official government website.
