Intact iQ | FS Cables case study

Written by Fiona McGuinness | Apr 2019

Before Using Intact

FS Cables had been using a UNIX-based system for 18 years but as the company continued to expand it became obvious that the system could no longer support their current and future business model.

Due to fear of change, FS Cables implemented a software system provided by their incumbent supplier at the time, however, they removed it after 6 months and reverted to their old UNIX system.

With the benefit of this experience FS Cables reviewed 14 or 16 vendors in total; however, none of them, except Intact iQ, could offer the tailor-ability that they required, let alone the functionality that they would have deemed to be standard in a modern ERP system.

“It almost became a one-horse race for me. It was the only software package I had faith in that would get us where we needed to be.” - Gavin Clements, Director

After Intact iQ

Numerous manual processes have been automated. With the Intact iQ integration with TNT freight dispatch addresses are now automatically rendered via file transfer; previously it was one person’s job to type all the addresses into the courier system.

Intrastat and sales reports used to be produced manually; now they are fully automated. We have done away with a huge amount of traditional reporting. You’ve got live running reporting; people just go and look at things and forget we used to run reports for this info.

“Intact are committed, professional and employ great people`, a refreshing experience within the software industry” - Gavin Clements, Director

The Intact iQ system facilitated the customisation FS Cables requires to ensure they don’t have to change their business processes to accommodate a piece of software. Customisation is codeless which also ensures FS Cables can constantly access the quarterly product upgrades, thus futureproofing their investment while lowering the total cost of ownership.
